Flexo Wash MUDA Guide

Eliminate Waste in Your Pressroom

In modern printing production, productivity isn’t just about how fast your press can run. It’s about how quickly you can switch from one job to the next.

By applying Modern Lean Methods, we learn that to achieve a 10-minute "Pit-stop changeover", we must look at everything happening around the press. If your cleaning process is still manual, this is one place your profit is  leaking away.

The 7 Types of MUDA (Waste) in the Press Room

The Japanese word “MUDA” translates to "waste" and refers to any activity within your production that utilises resources and does not add value - be it time, energy, or materials.

In a print production, MUDA is often hidden in plain sight. When an operator spends for example 15-20 minutes scrubbing a print station, or when a press stands idle waiting for a clean anilox, that is MUDA.

Identifying these inefficiencies is the first step toward a leaner, more profitable production. If you recognise these challenges in your own press room, our guide offers practical insights into how automated cleaning can eliminate waste and boost your uptime.
